NPC Governors Cup Athlete Amber Pera
We are still releasing interviews after the Governor's Cup! I got a chance to talk with Amber Pera and here is what the NPC Bikini Athlete had to say.

Shem - You got to be a part of the first ever Governors Cup and I don't think I have ever seen a prejudging so full. What did you think of the crowd at this show and the competition?
Amber - The competition was definitely tough, the competitors looked incredible! The judges certainly had some hard decisions to make. The crowd was awesome, it was a full house and you could really feel the energy.
Shem - How long was your prep for the Governors Cup?
Amber - This was my first show and I a lot of hard work to do; I trained for a total of 12 weeks.
Shem - What were some of your greatest challenges with the nutrition and training and how did you overcome them?
Amber - The greatest challenge as far as the diet was probably the preparation; the diet itself was not too bad well, until my trainer took my peanut butter away haha. On my days off I spent hours cooking, packaging and preparing to ensure I was ready for the week. As far as training, the cardio began to get really mundane so my girlfriend, Cassandra, and I started tackling the stairs together. It was great to have that “buddy support”.

Shem - What got you started training and put the fire in you to want to compete? And who are some of your inspirations?
Amber - I decided as soon as the New Year hit that it was time to focus on me again. I was not happy with my body and wanted to do something for myself. I have always wanted to compete but it was just something I dreamed of doing; I am enthralled I was able to turn that dream into a reality at the NPC Governors Cup. Through the process, I learned so much about myself, how strong, determined, and motivated I am. Often times I think we just need to get out of our own way ;)
My inspirations include Jamie Eason, Kristal Richardson, Ingrid Romero and Tosca Reno.

Shem - Do you have any favorite supplements that you use regularly?
Amber - Hands down, my favorite protein powder is Nu-Tek’s Pro7ein Synthesis in Cookies & Cream and Pro5 in Banana and I always combine it with Glutacor to help decrease muscle fatigue and improve recovery. Another supplement helping aid in my post workout recovery is BCAA Sport by ForzaOne, both the orange and fruit punch flavor are delicious! Nature’s Greens, a certified organic product, is also a product I use everyday. It provides abundance of health benefits and over 40 nutrient dense superfoods loaded with antioxidants!
Shem - I saw the pics of you at the Desert Classic shortly after. Did you do anything differently leading up to that show?
Amber - I increased my cardio slightly but my diet remained the same. I do think my confidence shined through more because I had a better idea of what to expect going on stage and felt more comfortable.

Shem - What is next for you Amber? Are you taking any time off or right on to the next show?
Amber - I am really excited for what the fitness industry has in store for me. I am passionate about health and fitness and I want to take this as far as I can, eventually obtaining my Pro card.
Following the Desert Classic, I did take some time off but I am back to training. Tentatively, I am looking at NPC Nevada State show in Reno but trust me, you will see more of me!
Shem - What is the first thing you eat after a show?
Amber - How about the first, second and third? I love breakfast and could eat it any time of the day. After the Governors Cup, I indulged in big, fluffy, banana pancakes. For my salty and sweet fix, yogurt covered pretzels are my “go to”. I also like to treat myself to dessert but not chocolate, I am not a fan, shocking right?!
